High School Students Tour Vo-Tech

Mars Area High School freshmen were invited to learn more about the programs and career training opportunities available at Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School as part of a field trip to the vo-tech on Oct. 24.

The students attended brief presentations offer-ed by instructors in each of the vo-tech’s 16 cour-ses — Air Conditioning/ Heating/Electrical Occupations, Automotive Technology, Building Construction, Carpentry, Collision Repair, Computer Networking & Security, Cosmetology,  Culinary Arts, Diversified Occupations, Graphic Design, Health Assistant, Heavy Equipment Repair, Machine Technology, Protective Services, Sports Medicine and Welding. All vo-tech programs are designed to prepare students to enter jobs in technical, skilled, and semi-skilled occupations after high school graduation.

The vo-tech has approximately 1,098 students in grades 10-12 enrolled from all Butler County school districts. High school students may choose to attend the vo-tech for one, two, or three years in one of the school’s programs of study.

Each student received additional information about the vo-tech’s programs; certifications to be earned; and possible careers to pursue. For details, visit www.butlertec.us
