Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball Teams are advancing to the first round of their respective 2024-2025 PIAA Class 5A Varsity Basketball Championships.

Boys Varsity Basketball vs. West York — Friday, March 7, 6 p.m.

The boys team will take on the West York Bulldogs at  6 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at West York Area High School (York, Pa.). 

The Fightin’ Planets took fourth place in the 2024-2025 WPIAL Class 5A Boys Varsity Basketball Championship after an 81-72 loss to the Montour Spartans in the Third Place Consolation Game on Feb. 27. The Planets were defeated 58-52 in overtime by the Peters Township Indians in the WPIAL Semifinals on Feb. 25.

Girls Varsity Basketball vs. West York — Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m.

The girls team will take on the West York Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at West York Area High School (York, Pa.).

The Lady Planets took fourth place in the 2024-2025 WPIAL Class 5A Girls Varsity Basketball Championship after falling 59-47 to the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars in the Third Place Consolation game on Feb. 25. The team was also bested 67-32 by the South Fayette Lions in the WPIAL Semifinals on Feb. 22.
