Mars Area High School’s Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) Chapter has inducted several new members.
Inductees are juniors Alexis Cashdollar, Grace Crawford, Shane Creighan, Andy Diaz, Alaina Graham, Madison Hersman, Jaxon Hittle, Reed Maschak and Mya Moore; and, sophomores Nur Ali, Lexie James, Millie Julius, Ruby Kush, Xavier Morales, Lauren Muñoz, Grace Nam, Madelyn Peterson, Maxwell Repko, Sabrina Ruiz-Gonzalez, Lila Schrecengost, Libby Schwartz, Callie Simoni, Raquel Steele and Ashlyn Varner.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Spanish. To be eligible, students must have a minimum of 90 percent in all of their Spanish courses; must commit to complete all four years of the language; and must maintain a 3.0 average GPA.
The goal of honor society, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
