High School to Offer Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

The following is important information regarding the Advanced Placement (AP) Exams for May 2025 at Mars Area High School.

This year, AP Exams will be administered in one of two formats, depending on the test taken:

  • Fully Digital: Students will complete both the multiple-choice and free-response sections using the Bluebook application.
  • Hybrid Digital: Students will complete the multiple-choice section and view the free-response section in Bluebook, but will handwrite their free-response answers in traditional paper exam booklets.

Student Responsibilities:

  • All students must bring a fully charged device and their charger for each exam.
  • The Bluebook application must be installed on their device before the exam. See a counselor or computer tech to install the application if it is not already loaded.
  • A limited number of loaner devices will be available in case of emergency.

Testing Logistics:

  • Once the proctor begins the exam, Bluebook will control the timing, and all responses will be submitted automatically at the end of the exam.
  • Approved testing accommodations will be administered directly through the Bluebook platform.

Reporting Times:

  • 8:00 AM Exams: Students should report to homeroom as usual, then proceed to their testing location after checking in.
  • 12:00 PM Exams: Students should eat lunch before reporting to their testing location.

 Lunch Schedule Details:

  • Regular Bell Schedule (May 5–7 & May 20): Students will eat Lunch 5 and report to testing at 11:30 AM.
  • 2-Hour Delay Schedule (May 12-19): Students will eat lunch during Period 4 (11:23–11:51 AM) and report to testing immediately after at 11:51 AM.

Special Program Considerations:

  • Students enrolled in JROTC at Pine-Richland will miss JROTC if scheduled for an 8:00 AM exam.
  • Vo-Tech students will miss their Vo-Tech program if scheduled for a 12:00 PM exam.
  • These absences will be considered excused absences by JROTC and Vo-Tech.

Teachers will be provided with a list of students assigned to each testing location. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact your students’ AP teacher or their Guidance Counselor.
