As we have begun the 2025-2026 school year, we would like to remind all parents to adhere to the school's attendance policy and share some upcoming and important dates.
Absences/Excuses
Parents/guardians are reminded that, if your child is absent for any reason, you are required to provide a written excuse for their absence within three (3) days of the absence. On the excuse, please provide your child’s first and last name, date of absence, and reason for absence. Your child can turn in the excuse at the main entrance each morning or in the main office to the attendance secretary at any time during the day. Reasons that qualify as excused absences are listed in the student handbook. "Senior Skip Days" are not school-approved and do not constitute an excused absence.
As per the District’s Attendance Policy, A maximum of ten (10) days of cumulative lawful absences verified by parental notification shall be permitted during a school year. All absences beyond ten (10) parent notes shall require a medical excuse or will be marked as unexcused.
If a parent/guardian has provided a written excuse after the three (3) days explained above or if a parent/guardian provides more than ten (10) parental excuses in a year, the absence will be considered Unexcused/Unlawful. Class work or tests given on the day of an Unexcused/Unlawful absence cannot be made up. The grade for the day will be “0”. Unexcused absences will also result in truancy processes, as per district policy.
Tardiness
A student is permitted three (3) excuses for student tardiness per semester, and all written excuses must be received within three (3) days. Students must be inside the classroom doorway when the homeroom bell rings at 7:35. The office will be notified for the fourth time if a student is late for school without an excuse.
On the 4th unexcused late arrival, two detentions will be assigned, and we will notify the parents.
On the 5th unexcused late arrival, students will be required to complete the Time Out III contract. Additionally, students with parking privileges will have their parking privileges revoked for the remainder of the semester. If your student loses their parking privileges, they must reapply for a space the following semester and may be added to a wait list.
For the 6th and any subsequent unexcused late arrivals, the student will be assigned a day of In-School suspension. All the above information was reviewed with students on the first day of school, and can be found in the student handbook
