Sophomore Recognized by Chinmaya Mission

Through the mission’s Bala Vihar program, Srivastava competed a year-long Capstone Project, titled “Yoga & Wellbeing,” which offered a thoughtful exploration of yoga as both a scientific health practice and a meaningful spiritual tradition. She researched the physical and mental benefits of yoga while also examining concepts such as balance, discipline, self-control, pranayama, and Vedantic breathing.

Srivastava designed an experiment through which participants practiced select yoga poses and reflected on their levels of relaxation, energy, balance, and overall experience. She then participated in a four-week personal yoga practice, performing and evaluating different sets of yogic poses while recording her progress.

“What made Rhythm’s project particularly meaningful was her willingness to connect research with personal experience,” says Sundeep Tangirala, Bala Vihar coordinator. “Through the process, she developed a deeper appreciation for yoga not simply as physical exercise, but as a practice that can help individuals manage stress, regulate their minds and bodies, and develop greater balance in everyday life.”
