Mars Area High School will hold its 2017 Homecoming celebration, Sunday, Sept. 24, through Saturday, Sept. 30.
The theme of this year’s Homecoming celebration is “Through the Decades.” Spirit Week will begin with the High School’s annual Powder Puff Football Games at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Mars Athletics Complex.
Theme days, held during Homecoming Spirit Week, will include:
- Monday, Sept. 25 — “Roaring ‘20s” (formal wear)
- Tuesday, Sept. 26 — “The Golden Years” (red, white & blue
- Wednesday, Sept. 27 — “Flower Power” (tie-dye/neon)
- Thursday, Sept. 28 — “School House Rock” (college wear)
- Friday, Sept. 29 — “Mars Day” (blue & gold)
The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Candidates for Homecoming Queen are Isabelle Berkopec, Erin McChesney, Ellie Orr, Ashley Parham, Bret Rinaman, Landri Shannon, Nichole Sommers and Jessica Srock. Honorary court member are exchange students Michele Costa dos Santos and Anna von Preussen.
The week will end with a Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mars Area Centennial School. Dance tickets are $30 per student through Friday, Sept. 29. (Note: Attendance at the dance is limited to those ages 20 and younger.)
The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance. Candidates for Homecoming King are Robby Carmody, Ray Kahn, Caleb Keys, Elias Manjerovic, Luke Nanna, Max Pasquinelli, Daniel O’Connell and Michael Sforza. Honorary court member are exchange students Maxwell Quaicoe and Pedro Lopes.
