Mars Area High School Girls Tennis Team ended the 2017 regular season with an overall record of 7-3 and 5-3 in Section 2-3A.

The Lady Planets advanced to the first round of the 2017 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Team Tennis Championship, but was defeated 5-0 by the Fox Chapel Foxes.

This season, junior Amelia Haley led the team in the first singles spot with a 7-2 record and Emily Ivory played in second singles with a 6-3 record. Other outstanding players this season included senior Michelle Manukas; juniors Lauren Lussier, Madelene Lussier and Emily Rogers; and sophomores Brooke Dean, Karlie Hollern and Emma Nelson.

In addition, the team took second place overall the 2017 MAC (Midwestern Athletic Conference) Girls Tennis Championship, held Sept. 21 at Brady’s Run Park (Beaver Falls, Pa.). The doubles team of Madelene Lussier and Emma Nelson took first place and Amelia Haley advanced to the final round in singles competition.
