Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team ended the 2017 regular season with an overall record of 10-5-2 and 10-1-1 in section play, tying with the Knoch Knights for the Section 1-3A title.

The Fightin’ Planets advanced to the first round of the 2017 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Soccer Championship on Oct. 21, but were defeated 3-1 by the Blackhawk Cougars. 

Outstanding players on this year’s team included seniors Ross Byers, Chris Check, Daniel Feathers, Cory Ferguson, Ian Goetz, Sean Hannon, Thomas Hayward, Cory Heim, Shane Lisman, Pedro Lopes, Anthony Machi, Matt Perdziola and Maxwell Quaicoe; and juniors D.J. Carter, Shane Lisman and Garrett Riddle.
