Two Mars Area High School basketball players have been named to the 2017-2018 TribLive High School Sports Network (formerly MSA Sports Network) High School Boys and Girls Pre-Season Basketball Teams.

Senior Robby Carmody, a four-year member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team, was named to the boys preseason team. Carmody, who recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, Ind.), helped lead the Fightin’ Planets to the WPIAL and PIAA playoffs in the each of the past three seasons.

Senior Lauren Wasylson, a four-year member of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team, was named to the girls preseason team. Wasylson, who has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio), helped lead the Lady Planets to the 2016 and 2017 WPIAL and PIAA playoffs
