Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team placed fourth overall in the 2017 Steve DeAugustino Holiday Wrestling Classic, held Dec. 27-28 at West Mifflin High School (West Mifflin, Pa.).

In individual competition, senior Alex Hornfeck and sophomore Jake Richardson earned first place in the 145-pound and 160-pound weight classes, respectively. Sophomore Max Lamm (138) took second place; junior Noah Hunkele (106) took third place; sophomore Mitchell McMarlin (152), fourth place; senior Jeffrey Desantes (285), fifth place; and senior Nolan Wicker (126), sixth place.

Also of note, Hornfeck recorded his 100th victory in route to the championship.  At the tournament, he was awarded for “Most Pins in the Least Amount of Time” with four victories, all by pin, with times of 52.00, 27.00, 1:33.00 and 59.00.
