Mars Area freshman Ariana Volkar was selected to receive four 2018 Northwest Region-at-Large Scholastic Art Awards.

In the Painting category, Volkar received a Gold Key for her work, “Sea Panthers,” a Silver Key for “Jellyfish Lament,” and an honorable mention for “Star Cats.” In the Drawing & Illustration” category, she received a Silver Key for her piece, “Skeleton and Roses.
