Several members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team placed in the 2017-2018 WPIAL Section 3-3A Boys Varsity Wrestling Individual Qualifier, held Feb. 24 at Fox Chapel Area High School.

Senior Alex Hornfeck and sophomore Jake Richardson earned first place, respectively in the 145-pound and 160-pound weight classes, respectively. Junior Noah Hunkele (106) and sophomore Sean McElhinny (170) took second place and senior Aidan Leshinsky (132) received fourth place in their respective weight classes.

All five wrestlers will advance to the 2017-2018 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, to be held March 2-3 at Canon-McMillan High School (Canonsburg, Pa.)

Other wrestlers who competed at the section qualifier were senior Nolan Wicker (126); sophomore Charlie Luedtke (152); and freshman Keith Brubach (113) and Davis Luedtke (120).
