Five members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team competed in the 2017-2018 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Wrestling Individual Championships, held March 2-3 at Canon-McMillan High School (Canonsburg, Pa.).

Senior Alex Hornfeck took third place in the 145-pound weight class and will advance to the PIAA Class 3A Individual Wrestling Championships, to be held March 8-10 at the Giant Center (Hershey, Pa.). Results will be posted live online at https://arena.flowrestling.org.

Other wrestlers who competed at the WPIAL championships were senior Aidan Leshinsky (132); junior Noah Hunkele (106); and sophomores Sean McElhinny (170) and Jake Richardson (160).
