Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team ended the 2017-2018 regular season with an overall record of 9-10 and 7-5 in North/West Conference play.

The Fightin’ Planets advanced to the play-in round of the 2018 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL) Class 2A Penguins Cup Playoffs on March 5, but were defeated 5-3 by the Franklin Regional Panthers.

Among this season’s Class 2A scoring leaders were seniors Patrick Roach and William Scurci and junior Braden Hanna; and sophomore Daniel Mitchell earned a spot as a goaltending leader. Roach and Scurci were also selected for the PIHL All-Star Class 2A Team White (NorthWest).

Other players of note this season included senior Jake Hulbert, Donald Pucciarelli and Jared Taylor; juniors James Kay, Nicholas Kiefer, Zachary Koerbel, Patrick McCann, Ryan Norris and Hunter Riemer; and sophomores Hudson Finn and Sean Newman.
