Numerous Mars Area High School students were inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) Chapter at a special ceremony on March 22.
Students are seniors Sophia Arbani, Julia Case, Allyson Kennedy, Caleb Keys, Kunjal Patel, Grace Rihs, Michael Sforza, Abigail Stewart and Margaret Williams; juniors Lindsay Austin, Alex Chipps, Noah Cipkins, Jake Fausnacht, Mia Giglietti, Lindsay Herold, Megan Hooper, Ting-Yu Huang, Anjali Kaul, Lauren Lussier, Maddie Lussier, Megan Mappin, Johnpaul Petruzzelli, Jack Ramsey, Emily Rogers, Natalie Sobel, Claire Valentine and Vincenzia Vargo; and sophomores Caroline Barent, Dalton Becker, Dylan Becker, Kate Castello, Kaitlyn Duker, Isabella Fratto, Anthony Gatto, Taylor Hamlett, Grace Kearney, Kamryn Kolson, Riley Kresge, Hope Lampenfeld, Olivia Lockette, Paige McBride, Catherine McLaren, Sarah McMaster, Madison Myers, Emma Nelson, Michael Robinson, Noah Spurlock, Jenna Sutton, Tabitha Teixido and Elle Werner.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school sophomores and above enrolled in Spanish. To be eligible for participation, students must have an “A” grade in each level of Spanish; a minimum average GPA of 3.6; and must commit to complete all four years of the language.
The goal of honor society, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
