A team of Mars Area High School students advanced to the second round of the Hometown High Q high school quiz show.

Seniors Daniel Feathers, Deepayan Patra, JonPaul Plesniak and Alec Skomo took on teams from Bethlehem-Center and Penn-Trafford high schools, but were defeated in the academic competition, which will air at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, and again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, on KDKA-TV.

The team defeated Leechburg Senior High School in the first round of the competition, which may be viewed online at http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/show/hometown-high-q/video-3838311-hometown-high-q-march-24-2018-part-1/.

The program, sponsored by Williams and KDKA-TV, offers students an opportunity to compete for academic grants and recognition by answering questions from a variety of curriculum areas.
