Two Mars Area High School students were named to the 2018 Trib Total Media Outstanding Young Citizen Elite Top 100, at the program’s annual awards banquet on April 18.

Senior Nichole Sommers and junior Vincenzia Vargo were recognized as students who exemplify character and leadership through community service and academic achievement. 

Other Mars Area nominees were seniors Sophia Arbani, Rachel Bobko, Bria Cratty, Meredith Furl, Meghana Jayaraman, Kunjal Patel, Deepayan Patra, JonPaul Plesniak, Alec Skomo and Nathan Walker; and juniors Lindsay Austin, Dustin Bauer, Alexander Chipps, Emily Grieco, Jenna Halenda, Megan Hooper, Lauren Lussier, Madelene Lussier, Jack Ramsey, Emily Rogers, Nicholas Rupnow, Marissa Seles, Claire Valentine and Teressa Wesley.

All nominees were honored in the Tribune-Review’s 2018 Outstanding Young Citizens Special Section, published on April 18 in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Westmoreland and Valley News Dispatch editions.
