Several Mars Area High School Advanced Algebra II students competed in the Allegheny Math Partnership’s 2018 Amazing Math Race, held April 26 at North Park.

The team of sophomores Dalton Becker, Connor Bird, Blake Edwards and Zachary Leachman took first place in the competition. The team of sophomores Rachel Goetz, Emily Hayward, Alexa Knox and Ruby Watson placed third.

Other participants included sophomores Logan Anderson, Bradford Astbury, Joseph Craska, Ashley Edwards, Luke Harvey, Grace Ingram, Jacob Jedry and Steven Papik.

The students competed against teams from Avonworth and North Hills school districts. Teams were tested in the subject areas of Linear and Quadratic Equations, Geometry, Tangrams and the “24” Math Game.
