Mars Area sophomore Zachary Leachman  was named to the USA Triathlon (USAT) “Team USA” for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games Qualifier, to be held Sunday, July 1, in Salinas, Ecuador.

Leachman will be one of eight male athletes on the team and will be competing for a chance to represent the United States at the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games. He competes in the USAT Junior Elite (Under 20) Draft Legal Triathlon Series, for which he finished the 2017 Season ranked 13th in the nation and was the second highest ranked 16 year old.

Leachman is a two-time USA Triathlon Age Group All-American and a two-time invitee to the USAT Junior Elite Men’s “Team USA” Camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
