Junior Selected for Semper Fidelis All-American Award

Shane LismanMars Area junior Shane Lisman was selected to receive a U.S. Marine Corps Semper Fidelis All-American Award.

The award recognizes those high school students who face life’s battles with the conviction and determination to succeed as well as those who achieve academically while bettering their communities and excelling in athletics and extracurricular activities.

Lisman, who is battling cancer and alopecia, is a three-year member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team as well as a member of the school’s Class Council.

In the community, Lisman plays competitive soccer for SCS United. He is also an assistant coach for the Upward basketball program and joins in mission trips through Glade Run Church (Valencia).

As part of the honor, Lisman will receive an all-expenses paid trip to attend the four-day Battles Won Academy, to be held in July 2018 in Washington, D.C. Participants will join in daily workouts; an immersive Marine Corps experience on base in Quantico; a community service event; team-building outings, a tour of the nation’s capital; and will network with speakers from all walks of life and various industries.
