Mars Area incoming junior Zachary Leachman competed in the 2018 Salinas CAMTRI Triathlon American Youth Olympic Games Qualifier, held July 1 in Salinas, Ecuador.

Leachman placed 30th overall and ninth among U.S. finishers with a time of 1:00.58. He was one of eight male athletes to compete as a member of the USA Triathlon (USAT) “Team USA” at the event

He competes in the USAT Junior Elite (Under 20) Draft Legal Triathlon Series, for which he finished the 2017 Season ranked 13th in the nation and was the second highest ranked 16 year old.

Leachman is a two-time USA Triathlon Age Group All-American and a two-time invitee to the USAT Junior Elite Men’s “Team USA” Camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
