Mars Area High School will hold its 2018 Homecoming Celebration, Sunday, Sept. 30, through Saturday, Oct. 6.
The theme of this year’s Homecoming celebration is “Lost at Sea.” Spirit Week will begin with the High School’s annual Powder Puff Football Games at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at Mars Athletics Complex.
Theme days, held during Homecoming Spirit Week, will include:
- Monday, Oct. 1 — “Crazy Socks/Shoes” Day
- Tuesday, Oct. 2 — “Class Colors” Day
- Wednesday, Oct. 3 — “USA” Day (red, white & blue)
- Thursday, Oct. 4 — “Tourist/Tropical” Day
- Friday, Oct. 5 — “Mars” Day (blue & gold)
A Homecoming Pep Rally will be held at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. And, the 2018 Homecoming Parade will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, in Downtown Mars, followed by the Fightin’ Planets Homecoming Football Game against the North Hills Indians at 7 p.m. at Mars Athletic Complex.
The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Candidates for Homecoming Queen are April Bonifate, Jeana Garrity, Emily Grieco, Tai Johnson, Aurora Marcoux, Rebekka Ranalli, Paige Seles, Natalie Sobel and Rylie Sperdute.
The week will end with a Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Mars Area Centennial School.
The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance. Candidates for Homecoming King are Hunter Boyd, Alexander Chipps, Mitchell Fitzsimmons, Rowen Fletcher, Matthew Fuller, Evan Ganter, Benjamin King, Zane Mundy and Thomas Sheehy.
Dance tickets are $25 per student and are available for purchase online at https://fs3.formsite.com/hZD3Sz/form1/index.html through Friday, Sept. 28. After that date, tickets are $30 per students and must be purchased at the Student Council booth at Mars Area High School by no later than Thursday, Oct. 4. (Note: Attendance at the dance is limited to those ages 20 and younger.)
Student Council will donate $1 from each ticket sold to benefit this school year’s PASC (Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils) designated charity, the Children’s Miracle Network.
