High School Crowns 2018 Homecoming King, Queen

Mars Area High School selected senior Ben King and Rylie Sperdute as its 2018 Homecoming King and Queen. 
 
The school held its 2018 Homecoming celebration, Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Throughout the week, each class earned points by participating in various activities including Powder Puff Football Games and themed days. This year, the coveted Spirit Stick was awarded to the senior class.
 
On Oct. 5, the school introduced the members of its 2018 Homecoming Court at its annual Pep Rally. Court members were queen candidates April Bonifate, Jeana GarrityEmily Grieco, Tai Johnson, Aurora Marcoux, Rebekka RanalliPaige SelesNatalie Sobel and Rylie Sperdute; and king candidates were Hunter BoydAlexander Chipps, Mitchell Fitzsimmons, Rowen Fletcher, Matthew FullerEvan GanterBenjamin King, Zane Mundy and Thomas Sheehy. Honorary court members were exchange students Sofia Paz Cardenas Aguilera and Ivan Lo.
 
The annual Homecoming Parade traversed through Downtown Mars on Oct. 5. The parade included performances by Mars Area High School’s cheerleading squads and marching band.
 
Following the parade, the Fightin’ Planets Boys Varsity Football Team defeated the North Hills Indians 42-14 in the 2018 Homecoming Football Game. At halftime, senior Rylie Sperdute was crowned the 2018 Homecoming Queen.
 
At the Homecoming Dance on Oct. 6, senior Ben King was named the 2018 Homecoming King. Theme of the dance was “Lost at Sea.”
