PIAA Championships
Two members of Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country Teams competed in the 2018 PIAA Class 3A Cross Country Championship, held Nov. 3 at Parkview Cross Country Course (Hershey, Pa.).
Junior Zachary Leachman earned 24th place with a time of 16:56 and sophomore McKenna Bowes took 46th place with a time of 20:29.

WPIAL Championships
Several members of Mars Area High School Girls and Boys Varsity Cross Country Teams competed in the 2018 WPIAL Class 3A Cross Country Championship, held Oct. 25 at California University of Pennsylvania.
The girls team took 16th place overall with 436 points and an average time of 22:01. Sophomore McKenna Bowes took eighth place with a time of 19:41; senior Camille Bromley, 68th place (21:45); freshman Kalin Wilson, 106th place (22:34); freshman Eliza Matusek, 115th place (22:42); freshman Keely Looper, 139th place (23:22); and junior Emma Hornfeck, 161st place (24:13).
The boys team took 23rd place overall with 597 points and an average time of 19:08. Junior Zachary Leachman took 14th place with a time of 17:01; senior John Zervos, 73rd place (18:31); junior Dylan Becker, 162nd place (19:53); freshman Jack Olshenske, 163rd place (19:54); freshman John Dunn, 185th place (20:18); freshman Lucas Kuremsky, 199th place (21:02); and junior Connor McChesney, 212th place (22:51).

TSTCA Championship
Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country Teams competed in the 2018 TSTCA (Tri-State Track & Field Coaches Association) Class 3A Cross Country Championship, held Oct. 18 at California University of Pennsylvania.
The girls team took ninth place overall with 313 points and an average time of 21:54. Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country Teams competed in the 2018 MAC (Midwestern Athletic Conference) Varsity Cross Country Championships, held Oct. 11 at Brush Creek Park.
The girls team took third place overall with 77 points and an average time of 22:39. Sophomore McKenna Bowes took second place (20:43); senior Camille Bromley, fourth place (21:19); freshman Eliza Matusek, 24th place (23:31); freshman Kalin Wilson, 26th place (23:46); freshman Keely Looper, 31st place (23:56); senior Josie Schneider, 39th place (24:27); and junior Emma Hornfeck, 71st place (26:36).

The boys team took 24th place overall with 652 points and an average time of 18:39.
