Several members of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Volleyball Teams are listed among the best players in the region.

Senior Alayna Chizmar was named to both the 2018 All-WPIAL Second and All-Section First Girls Volleyball Teams. Junior Emily Hayward and sophomores Sydney Bucknum and Elizabeth Long were named to the 2018 All-Section Third Girls Volleyball Team.

WPIAL Championships 

Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Volleyball Team advanced to the first round of the 2018 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Volleyball Championship at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, but was defeated 3-0 by the Armstrong River Hawks.

The Lady Planets ended the 2018 regular season with an overall record of 7-9 and 7-7 in Section 3-3A play.

Outstanding players on this year’s team included senior Alayna Chizmar; junior Emily Hayward; and sophomores Sydney Bucknum, Beth Long, Emily Mayer, Alexis Phillips and Katie Schlegel; and freshmen Ava Black, Tori Felton and Yumeno Ikeda.
