Several members of Mars Area High School Band were selected by solo audition to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 5 Honors Band Festival, to be held Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at Westminster College (New Wilmington, Pa.).
Students are seniors Tara Brazel (French horn), Sarah Grimm (clarinet), Jenna Halenda (flute), Camryn Reynolds (trumpet) and Jacob Smith (trombone); and, sophomores Elizabeth Caldwell (flute) and Carly King (oboe). Patrick Burns, Montclair State University (N.J.) adjunct music professor and composer, will serve as guest conductor.
The event will conclude with a public concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Westminster College’s Orr Auditorium. Tickets are $5 may be purchased at the door.
