Several members of Mars Area High School’s FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club will attend the Western Pennsylvania Regional FOR Club Program on Monday, Dec. 10, at World Vision — Pittsburgh (Sewickley, Pa.)
The event will bring together high school students from several local school districts to share ideas for fostering a permanent culture of kindness and compassion on their campus. Participants will also join in a service activity.
The FOR Club is an extension of the “Rachel’s Challenge” program, which is based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy. The program works to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness and compassion and, in turn, to promote a safer, more connected school community.
