Students Selected for PMEA District Jazz Festival

Three Mars Area High School students have been selected by solo audition to perform in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Jazz Festival, to be held Feb. 1-2 at Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, Pa.).

Students are senior Jacob Smith and juniors Jack Felice and Zachary Ottenweller. Michael Bodolosky, University of Pittsburgh (Johnstown) director of bands, music instructor and Musical Theatre Productions conductor as well as Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center executive director; Dr. David Glover, Slippery Rock University associate professor of percussion; and Dr. Matt Niess, lead trombonist with the U.S. Army Blues Jazz Ensemble (Washington, D.C.) will serve as guest conductors.

The event will conclude with a public concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Slippery Rock University’s Swope Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
