Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team will take on the South Fayette Lions in the quarterfinals of the 2024 PIAA Class 3A Girls Varsity Soccer Championship at noon on Saturday, Nov. 9, at North Allegheny Senior High School.
The Lady Planets trounced the Harbor Creek Huskies 5-0 in the first round of the PIAA Playoffs on Nov. 5. The team advanced to state championships after taking third place in the 2024 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Varsity Soccer Championships with a 1-0 overtime win against the Plum Mustangs in the Third-Place Consolation Game on Oct. 31.
At the end of a scoreless game in the WPIAL Semifinals on Oct. 29, the Lady Planets were ultimately bested by the South Fayette Lions 4-2 in a penalty kick shootout. The team defeated the West Allegheny Indians 2-0 in the WPIAL Quarterfinals on Oct. 24; and, grounded the Oakland Catholic Eagles 3-2 in the first round of the WPIAL Playoffs on Oct. 21.
The Planets ended the 2024 regular season with an overall record of 15-2 and 8-2 in Section 1-3A play.
