Sport Hall of Fame

The Mars Area High School Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1970 as a means to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves in athletics during and beyond their years at Mars Area. Current inductees have brought pride and recognition to the District's athletic programs and to the community as former players, coaches, administrators and supporters. Nominees associated with Mars Area High School as well as athletes who have achieved success after graduation will be given consideration.
2026 Induction
Mars Area High School’s 2026 Mars Area Sports Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized at the Fightin’ Planets football game against the Trinity Hillers at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at Mars Athletic Complex.
Inductees are:
- 1971 Boys Varsity Track Team
- John Abramovic (Class of 1971), basketball
- Gabrielle Berkopec (Class of 2006), softball
- John Castello (Class of 2016), basketball
- Shannon Doyle (Class of 2016), lacrosse
- Cole Ferguson (Class of 2016), soccer
- Rick Matlick, coach
- Ray Peaco (Class of 1977), basketball
- Scott Pfieffer, lifetime contributor
- Gabe Spurlock (Class of 2015), football
Mars Area Sports Hall of Fame honors those individuals who have distinguished themselves in athletics during and beyond their years at Mars Area School District. Nominations are accepted through April 15 of the previous school year.
